Trip Overview:
In rural regions of Guatemala, there are many aspiring young entrepreneurs wanting to create new economic opportunities for themselves and their communities. Trip participants will have the opportunity to learn about the business landscape across cultures while lending their knowledge to assist high school students as they develop and assess ideas for new enterprises.

Itinerary Highlights Include:
  • Delivering educational workshops on market research, business planning, marketing and financial literacy
  • Acting as coaches to teams of local high school students as they assess ideas for launching new businesses and expanding existing ones
  • Visit Guatemalan businesses and participating in cross cultural dialogues about business, economics, and entrepreneurship

This program is ideal for any one interested in business entrepreneurship, marketing, economic empowerment, international business, and community development.

Community Profile:

Chuacruz is a small rural village located in the department of Chimaltenango in Guatemala. The population is predominantly Indigenous and have faced many years of poverty, marginalization and violence leading to several development challenges. Many of the local people lack access to formal education and jobs, which further reinforces the cycle of poverty. SOS has held several outreach trips in this community in the past helping improve school infrastructure and improving living conditions. This trip will help address these challenges and build awareness and entrepreneurial skills within the community to create new forms of income generating activities.
